The Body Awake

A 4 day retreat to deepen into the inate intelligence of the body

€100 off if registered before February 20

Being fully present within offers a gateway to attune to wholeness in others. It enables us to expand our perceptual skills towards unravelling the root patterns within the body that bind us to stress and disharmony.

This residential retreat is a deep dive into the body space. We will be introducing an Integrative Bodywork system of practice together with the tools of breathwork, meditation and guided movement in order to discover deeper levels of core and connection and develop a felt sense of presence and wholeness.

This retreat is open and valuable to beginners with no experience in somatic movement or bodywork and also those who are experienced practitioners as the practical bodywork applications can be applied in multiple modalities of massage, yoga, teaching and more.

This retreat is a special collaboration between two female bodywork practitioners. We have been weaving our skills, knowledge and practice over years of professional practice to share with you the tools and practices we have come to find the most useful, inspiring and relevant in today's age. Our offerings are multi disciplinary; including evolving research from the movement and neuroscience world and our knowledge of Thai yoga massage, myofascial and somatic therapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy and other systems of energy and healing medicine.

We will be working with:

A bodywork sequence to release core tension from the body and recalibrate the nervous system

How to deepen into a self practice to cultivate stillness and resilience for oneself to support a bodywork practice or teaching

How to listen to another body with our hands and whole being and trust the guidance of what we are feeling

How to engage and interact with the fascia and "fluid body" system

Inviting curiosity and play into our practice

Nuturing ourselves deeply through connection with nature

What you will receive during this weekend

Connection, gathering and so much more to develop the heart of this work:  Love
Space and guidance

to explore the inner depths of your own body, through a variety of different movement classes based on chi gong, myofascial yoga, and somatic bodywork. This is a time for you to be with and listen to your body's intelligence, to hear what it is calling for and give your body some love and attention.

An experience of using touch and bodywork skills

as another way to access the knowledge within our own body-mind system, or to incorporate into your own massage or teaching practice.

Immersion in nature and a safely held space to support you

in the wilds of West Cork on a peaceful, community run nature reserve. The instinctual natural world of the living body is the shared common field we have with all living beings, dropping into the rhythms of nature expands the possibilities for our own bodies to do what it needs to to heal and restore vitatlity.

About the facilitators

Susan Keogh

I am a licenced physiotherapist, myo-fascial therapist, movement educator, pilates and yoga instructor and a life long student of meditation and the Eastern healing arts. I received my professional training in UCD school of physiotherapy graduating in 1993 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree. I have undertaken a considerable amount of training over the years in somatic therapies, breathwork, myofascial release and structural integration. I am currently delving deep into the study of visceral osteopathy.

I offer bespoke workshops to introduce people to working hands on with the body in a fluid and dynamic way. The inspiration for these trainings is rooted in the depth of what I have received through bodywork and a real passion to share this experience. In these workshops I blend all the wisdom and experience I’ve received through my own direct experience and clients responses in over 30 years working as a bodyworker as well as all the insights and inspirations drawn from extensive travel and study with incredible teachers and traditions of bodywork.

Erica Bhavani

I have been practicing yoga, spirituality and healing modalities for over 12 years. Having explored other forms of bodywork already, I found a real connection and faith upon discovering Thai Yoga Massage and I haven’t looked back since. I received my practitioner certificate through the Sunshine Network in 2015 and have been running my private practice in Lisbon, Portugal since 2017.

As a member of the Thai Healing Alliance, I continue to study regularly with a variety of teachers, taking advanced courses and assisting teachers in their own trainings. My studies have branched out into osteopathy and even more present, shamanism, or the understanding of how nature, the elements and energy all play a part in who we are. I believe in our ability to heal ourselves, and share these modalities as a complement and support to help clients and students along their own personal journeys.
